The other person must be from a planet of coffee snobs...I thought I was...I drink more coffee than anyone on ANY PLANET.
This ALFI is the best, hands down.
There's not much in the world that will keep your coffee hot forever; this is Earth.
It's easy, looks great, and I just can't believe anyone could write something bad about this.
I got mine as a gift, as they knew I wanted it!, and couldn't be happier.
If it cracks, well...that's just the name of the game....things break on our planet lady....but treat things good, and you get good back.

It's chrome plated PLASTIC and it doesn't keep coffee warm very long
There was nothing in the description that said this is a plastic carafe. It looks terrific, but the spout cracked after a very gentle bump on the kitchen sink. The reason we bought an Alfi is because we have a tea carafe that we've had for years, which is made of metal and keeps the tea warm all day. Would not recommend this product. I hope I can find an Alfi Coffee Carafe the same quality as the old tea carafe.
Hot vs Warm
This is a good but not a top notch thermal carafe.

First the purchaser is not told that a tea filter must be purchased separately in order to make tea in the carafe. Once you purchase a tea filter, from $7 to $25, it makes fine tea.

Next, the carafe which, because it had broken after many years of use, this replaced always kept hot liquids hot for up to 10 hours. It then kept liquids warm for 6 to 10 hours more. This carafe keeps hot liquids hot for 2 to 4 hours, sometimes less, and then warm for about 1 to 2 hours more.

It is a fine looking carafe which with these limitations functions reasonably well.

nothing better for coffee
Seems pricey but you'll quickly forget about the $. It's the very best coffee accessory I've ever purchased. The filter part of the french press is perfect. Makes a suction sound as you press it down because the fit is so precise. Virtually no coffee grounds make their way into your cup. And why didn't someone think before of making an insulated french press? In use every day at our house.

French Press Lovers
French Press coffee has one downside, if you do not serve the whole pot when it is first made then it tends to be coolish. This pot can be a help. It is not perfect but it keeps the coffee warm-hot for awhile. I fill it full of hot tap water before I make the coffee in it and then the coffee stays warm longer. I think it is the best press on the market at this price.
The other thing to be aware of is that when these coffee pots are rated for 10-12 cups that they are something less. The cups they are talking about are four ounce cups. These coffee pots make 4 regular cups of coffee and no more. PS: This is a good way to cut your coffee shop bill.
Ah, the perfect cup of coffee
This press is great. I bought it in combination with the Bodum 5679-01USA C-Mill Blade Grinder. It is all we use anymore. So the perfect cup of coffee?

Fill the press with hot water to preheat it.
Put a kettle of distilled or filtered water on stove.
Grind 1/4 cup (adjust for type and preference) of fresh beans. I do about 10 seconds in the Bodum grinder, the key is you want it fairly coarse.
As the water comes to a boil put the ground coffee in press and add just enough hot water to cover and then fill your cups up with hot water to preheat them.
After a minute fill press to within an inch of top.
Let brew for 4 1/2 minutes, stirring occasionally with something that won't scratch surface of press.
Press very slowly, if you meet resistance, raise it up a little and continue.
That's it, you'll be amazed at the results. The variables are going to be the amount of beans that you grind, the amount of time you grind them and the length of time...

Two hour hot coffee.
Good looking machine on the counter,makes coffee fast, it beeps when done brewing and beeps again two hours later to let you know the coffee will start cooling off.Filling the water tank can be awkward because the cover hides the numbers on the tank while pouring water into the tank when making a full pot.But its a very good coffee maker and I would recommend buying it.

Best Coffee maker hands down. It's simple and makes great coffee. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Update: The machine stopped working after working flawlessly for 3 months all of sudden, contacted Bonavita 7 days later brand new coffee maker arrived at home at no cost to me and I'm having great coffee again.

Great coffee everytime
I looked for a coffee maker for over a year. All I wanted was a good cup of coffee, no bells or whistles. The Bonavita produces a great cup of coffee every time. It takes some experimenting with the amount of coffee grounds to use but once you find what works for you it is simple to repeat day after day.
