So far so good,description a little misleading.
I just received this kettle and am pleased with it but if you are expecting a brushed finish on the housing you might like to know the only brushed finish is on the lid and inserts on the handle.The pot itself is a gleaming mirror finish.Packing is great.My first attempt to use it required me to flick the switch to on position several times but it works fine now on each attempt.Don't know why initial start had that result.Boils water quickly,much quieter than my previous kettle.Nice blue light illuminates the pitcher contents and level indicator.A little odor right at the lid and spout after first couple of uses but no taste problem.I would give it 5 stars based on function,looks and value but I am waiting to see if the initial start up requiring several attemts is just a one time deal or not.Housing gets pretty hot but handle stays cool to the touch.Seems to keep water heated for a decent time after shutting off.I like the fact that there are no bells and whistles,just an on/off...

Beautiful and powerful kettle
I have used electric kettles like this for over 30 years. They last a very long time and doesn't cost a fortune on electricity bills or to own one.
This one is very good in many aspects.
The base is big and firm with the rubber stops. You don't have to worry about accidentally tripping it.
The see thru side lights up in elegant midnight blue when you flip the switch allowing you to see the water level. Vey nice feature. My old one had no see thru and I always have to guess if I had enough water to make tea or coffee.
The flip switch is very easy to use.
The kettle holds plenty of water, it's a good size and still boils vey fast.
The lid is very secure and nice buffered release mechanism where it doesn't flip wide open all at once ( risk burning the hand or spill).
The exterior is polished shiny, only the metal parts on the lid and the handle is brushed.

My other unit had a reset button. I need to check if this one has a reset button or...
Krups kettle
Usually I would try to find some negatives to a product since nothing is ever perfect. With the Krups Breakfast Set Kettle, I can't say it's 'perfect' but I also cannot find any faults. I've used the kettle a few times so this is an initial impression. Aesthetically the kettle looks very nice. The stainless steel mirror finish is very appealing and the kettle itself is a nice size, not too big and not too small. Even better is when the kettle is working and the water level indicator lights up blue. The one negative I was expecting was an aftertaste as some stainless steel kettles cannot avoid but having an aftertaste in the boiled water, but I could not taste anything like that here. It doesn't take that long to get water to boil and overall the product performs as expected and advertised. The price point at $100 would have been too much, in my opinion, but at under $70 I think this is a worthwhile purchase for those in need of a kettle that will definitely add to the look of...

Real cappuccino with one pot-sometimes
First, my review is based soley on making cappuccino, as the only espresso I've made are the three pots you are instructed to make and throw away to "season" the pot before using. When I first opened the instruction booklet, I was overwhelmed by the diagrams and instructions. However, the English instructions are very clearly-written, and they are easy to follow if you just take them step-by-step. Once you've gone through the process of seasoning the pot, you will be quite comfortable with the parts and the process, and it will go quickly. There is also a good troubleshooting section.

A few things to know before you purchase this pot. The instructions say not to use finely ground espresso. I asked my local café to grind their high-quality espresso beans on the more coarse espresso setting. The result tastes exactly like what we had on a recent trip to Italy.

Don't pat the coffee down in the coffee holder, and don't tilt the pot after you screw the top...

Amazing Results
I bought this in hopes that it would make a decent cup of espresso, and cappuccino. Followed the directions for pre-cleaning it. Even while cleaning, I could see that the process was very nice, using the little pressure valve. Holds the water in the coffee, until the pressure is up, and then WHOOSH! fills the top pot. This little pot brews a wonderful espresso, with nice crema, and a nice frothy cappuccino. WOW! My only wish is that it was bigger. Perhaps a 6 cup model. If you want a good espresso or cappuccino at home, this will give it to you. Easy to use, and quick. No big bulky machine on your counter, and to clean. This thing cleans up fast, too. VERY HAPPY with this purchase.
Good cappuccino
This coffee maker is easy to use and makes nice cappuccino. It's similar to a bialetti, but you put milk in the top and as the coffee steams, it froths the milk. I've had it about a month, and have found that you have to be careful to use the correct amount of water, coffee, and milk: it's overflowed a couple of times. But most of the time it works well and I'm very pleased with it.

Don't buy. This item broke twice!
This KitchenAid was on my Christmas wish list two years ago. I loved the color, 14 cups for entertaining, and the fact that I could have my coffee upon waking up every morning. After 4-6 months, the internal computer went down. I would have kept it if it could still make coffee, minus the programmable feature, but no luck. As with most electronics, once the computer goes, the whole thing fails. After a lot of effort to track down the receipt, packing it up, etc. KitchenAid did send me a new one. Same story. After 4-6 months the problem occurred again. It must be a product defect. KitchenAid should stick to mixers.

Fantastic Coffeemaker
All I can say is that this coffeemaker lives up to the fantastic reputation of KitchenAid. Works perfectly and makes the best coffee I have ever had. I have had quite a few different brands in the past and most of them high-end coffeemakers, but this one is, without a doubt, the best. The amount of coffee you can make is great, either a small amount or large amount. We have a carafe and when we entertain an extra large group of coffee drinkers we just make a pot of coffee and put it into the carafe and then make another pot and leave in on the KitchenAid and there is plenty of great coffe for everyone.
Excellent coffee but design improvements would help
This is a very good coffee maker. It programs easily, looks great and like most coffee makers, makes a good pot of coffee. There are however, some minor design flaws. The lid to the carafe needed to be designed with more than a single slot for the brewed coffee to flow. Either users must position the handle to face directly in front (and not to either side) or during brewing, some coffee will flow over the lid. However, if a user positions the handle directly to face forward, coffee will not flow over the lid. Reading the water level on the reservoir is difficult to use. It is not clearly marked and users must rely on the carafe or the "filter rod" to measure the water level. A clearly marked resevoir would have helped a lot. Last, the lid to the carafe is not removable and a fixed lid is cumbersome to clean. A better system would have allowed for a removable lid where users could easily place the carafe along with the separate lid into the dishwasher.

Love this
I researched the heck out of combo coffee/espresso machines. Between the two I had it narrowed down to I was not impressed with either of their reviews. This one had zero reviews but I took a chance thinking that 'no' review was better than one with a bad review. I am so happy with this machine. It comes with a stainless steel coffee cone filter, the coffee brewing can be stopped at any time with the push of a button, it is programmable, and you can pick your own desired shut off time (1, 2 up to 5 hours). The espresso maker is awesome. It makes really, really good espresso. In my opinion the crema is perfect. The time for the espresso water to heat is very quick. And you can make coffee and espresso at the same time. AND the best part of the machine is the milk frother, it makes stiff froth. The wand is tall enough up that I can use the stainless steel cup that came with my cocktail set for straining ice from drinks (don't know the name of that thing, but it holds 2 cups of...

Very good item for the price
After reading all the terible reviews on countless other coffee/espresso combos I decided to purchase this one. The only combos that had high ratings were way out of our budget. There were no reviews on this one at the time so I knew I was taking a risk. We've owned this product for about 6 months and here's my opinion:

Pros-
The machine has been very reliable. No parts have broken as of yet and we use it daily. Unlike many other machines, the steamer nozzle swivels out so you can place a larger container of milk under it to steam and not have to tip and spill any of it out. It's also very easy to clean. The coffee, espresso, and steamed milk always turn out perfect for us. It comes with three different sizes of espresso baskets which allows 1-3 servings of espresso. The machine doesn't leak. The coffee comes out hot and the hot plate keeps it that way. The coffee and espresso is brewed quickly. The milk also froths quickly. The price is reasonable for what you...
esspression coffee maker
I must say that we love this coffee maker. Its super easy to use, we figured out all of the buttons and settings in a couple days. The design is really well thought out. We make awesome specialty coffees with the espresso side. It actually pushes water through the coffee quite well if you don't over tamp it. It produces a perfect crema espresso shot! IT REALLY DOES WORK GREAT! The pump struggles a bit with a double if it is not pressed just right. Also the frothing steam is a little bit slow, but works well if you have a little patience. The machine looks awesome on the counter and over all is great. Way better than the little single espresso machines that we have had in the past. If I had to give a negative, I would say that it could use more metal in the construction and a little more weight. It feels a little cheap in some ways but it does seem to work great so far.

A good buy
This machine is amazing, milk micro foam is an easy task with the 6bar steamer and the pressure gage is very helpful in determining the right dosage and grind size to pull the perfect shot. This machine doesn't steam and make espresso in the same time, don't know why Krups chosen not to enable that feature.

Technivorm...simple yet elegant ! And not made in China !
I researched several coffee brewers before purchasing this Netherlands made KB-741. I wish it was American made,but I was happy to find a completely hand made product from our European friends. Frankly,I'm sick & tired of being forced to purchase almost EVERYTHING from China ! Guess i'm old fashioned.I like handmade ! Now,having gotten my rant out of the way,on to my review. Been using this products about 5 weeks now. It brews an excellent cup of coffee. Just like the other reviews i've read it brews HOT ! It's fast and since all the usable parts are removable,it's easy to clean. One slight surprise I found out about the coffee carafe is that the coffee does not get get bitter leaving it on the hotplate. And leaving it on HIGH at that. Wow ! My old coffee brewer caused the coffee to get bitter after about 15 minutes. I believe it has to do with Technivorm's carafe design. Whatever it is it works ! My usual way of serving brewed coffee is to pour it in preheated thermal insulated...

finally, I got the best coffee brewer
I have had many coffee brewers over the years, and have tried and returned others, including Capresso, Bunn, Braun,& Cuisinart. I like strong coffee. The issue is that the finer the grind and larger the amount of ground beans used the stronger the coffee BUT the higher the chance that the basket will overflow. This brewer has a setting for the opening at the bottom of the brew basket: closed, open, or 1/2 open. [Note: all Technivorm models do not have this feature]. Using 1/2 open slows the dripping and produces stronger coffee. You sacrifice automatic "drip stop" but can use the feature manually. I use a 75% full basket of ground beans at a fineness setting on the border of "drip filter" and "espresso" with the basket opening set to 1/2 and I get very strong coffee. The other features of this machine are simple, sturdy and based on research for the best brew. You sacrifice an auto start clock and timer for the hot plate. The heating element is twice as powerful as any other...

Dont buy anything else. The full copper heating element and the wattage used is what sets this apart from others and this company was brewing at 200+ degrees at the brew head before all others. This is an example of you get what you pay for. The Dutch retro styling could certainly use a version that has a more modern look was my only critic thought. Been using these for 6 years and just bought a new one.

If you can get this for a deal, grab it!
I couldn't decide between the various CBTL units, but was sure I wanted a combo espresso and coffee maker. While I wouldn't consider myself a total coffee snob, I do love the good stuff, Blue Bottle, Peets Major Dickason etc. I have been very pleased with this unit after about two weeks of use. I have an excellent true espresso maker, but the difference has been negligible enough that for the time saved and the good quality pull achieved, this is a steal. I was able to find a combo with a hand held milk frother for <$100 shipped. I have created kind of a quick style latte that I drink almost every day; pour about 1/3 inch milk into a microwaveable 9 oz bodum glass cup, microwave for about 20 seconds, use the hand held frother and then do a double espresso shot right into the cup. The espresso goes through the frothed milk into the bottom and it's a great drink for about 1 minute total effort.

My wife uses exclusively for coffee and I have tried one 8 oz and one 10 oz...

Americano VS Kaldi S04 VS Briosa
I feel I'm almost an expert on CBTL machines. I've owned the CBTL Kaldi S04 for two (2) trouble-free years, but I was looking for a back-up unit as I love my Kaldi so much - and you never know when the manufacturer will quit making them for one reason or another.

Here are my picks in order of favorite first:

1. The Kaldi - MY FAVORITE! - the Kaldi appears to have the best build-quality; but now they appear to be made by Sensio (not to be confused with Senseo who makes the pod brewers) - I have one of the first-built Kaldi's and I don't think Sensio made mine; I've noticed less quality on the machines now made by Sensio.

NOTE: My Kaldi has a program built into it which calls for a de-scaling cycle to be run every now and then using an actual descaling product (not vinegar) ---- neither the Americano or the Briosa have this program. The manual for these two machines simply states to run 12 ounces of water through now and then - I'm sorry, but that does...
Keurig Killer
This is a great machine. I came from a high capacity Keurig to this. At first I was skeptical, but I couldn't make a better choice. With many pouring settings, you get anything from espresso, lungos, to an ice tea pour. It's narrow design fits way better on the counter than other bulky machines. In a house of two, this answers out coffee needs.

Pros: smaller design, multi-pour option, internal used capsule bin, great tasting coffee
Cons: just as loud as Keurig, very hard to find capsules in brick and mortar retail stores
