Bodum Bean French Press Coffeemaker with Locking Lever Lid, 3-Cup (12-Ounce), Blue Big SALE

Bodum Bean French Press Coffeemaker with Locking Lever Lid, 3-Cup (12-Ounce), Blue
The new BEAN French Press Coffee Maker has a patented new locking lid system. The small, 3-Cup, version is perfect for brewing one cup of coffee whenever you need it. Brewing one-cup of coffee in a BODUM coffee press not only delivers a well-rounded and flavorful cup of coffee, it is the greenest way to brew coffee. It offers a heat seal and precision pour spout. By pressing lever with thumb while pouring, you have total control over flow of liquids. When lever is released, liquid not only stops pouring but spout actually closes off which eliminates exposure to outside air. This allows your coffee to remain hot and fresh for a longer period of time and prevents drips while serving. Available in a vivid array of colors, you will enjoy looking at the BEAN as much as using it! (0.35 l, 12-ounce ) capacity.
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Poor design, poor construction
This is my third small French press and this has two problems compared to the other two. The water tight, snap-top section must be unsnapped to clean, which I find to be a needless complication. It is preferable to simply pour directly from the carafe and have a simpler cleanup. However, if tipping and spilling is a potential issue, this may be worth the extra trouble.

Secondly, the spring/screen seal with the carafe is poorly constructed vs. my other two. The concept is the same, a spring presses the screen against the sides of the carafe, but the spring in this press is not even around its diameter. This creates soft spots or openings between the screen and carafe allowing grounds to enter the filtered side of the carafe. I have had far more grounds in my coffee with this press with the other two. I'm sure Bodum can do a better job, but my press is terrible in this way. I am throwing it out for this reason alone.

Love it!
It's easy to use and easy to clean. I'm not a coffee person, but recently discovered choffy. I've been using the press to brew my choffy drink and it tastes fantastic.
Perfect for the office. Love it.
I ordered this french press because I wanted an alternative to the particularly foul coffee provided by my office. It's absolutely perfect, brews almost exactly one full mug, and the red color is lovely. There's really minimal clean up because it's so small, and I really like the locking lid. I recommend this french press to anyone who needs better coffee at work!

Good drip coffe, but wonderful espresso!
I've just had my CBTL Americano for a few weeks now, but here are my thoughts so far:

It's very easy to use. Turn it on and after a minute or less to heat up, it's ready to go. Drop in a capsule, push the button for the type and size of beverage you want and wait 30-40 seconds for it to brew. Couldn't be simpler.

Yes, it has a lot of plastic parts. I wish it was made of better materials (i.e., more metal and less plastic). But I really think you would have to be very careless or wreckless in order to break it. It doesn't seem fragile to me. If this bothers you, go for the Kaldi model, which I understand uses less plastic (but you lose the ability to use larger travel mugs with the Kaldi).

If I'm honest, I have to say that the drip coffee is plenty good, but I think my mom's Kuerig makes slightly better drip coffee. If I drank mostly drip coffee, I would probably opt for a Kuerig B-70 over the CBTL.

I also think that my old Saeco...

Works as advertised
I am a novice when it comes to making coffee from a machine. However, I decided to give the CBTL Americano a try, since I like making my own "coffee drinks" at home. Up to now I have been using a coffee substitute called Kaffree Roma, which is very good, but does not have quite the flavor of coffee.

As far as aesthetics, the Americano Red machine looks very nice on our kitchen counter.

I drink a lot of tea and have boxes and boxes of teabags at home. The Americano can dispense hot water in 6 different sizes: 2 oz, 4 oz, 8 oz, 9 oz, 10 oz and 12 oz. I found that the temperature of the water is about right, but cools off very quickly if the cup is cold, so I either pre-heat the cup with hot water or heat the tea in the microwave for a few seconds. The water is more than hot enough coming out of the machine to brew a good cup of tea. It is much easier and faster than using an electric tea kettle, which is what I was previously using.

I have tried...
Absolutely Wonderful
As someone who prefers a cup of coffee that tastes like coffee and not just brown water, I must say I love this machine.

I was hesitant to purchase any sort of single cup maker after trying a competing brand, just because I do like strong coffee, but this exceeds all of my expectations.

The machine may be a little noisy, but no more so than any other machine and with a 15 bar espresso pump, I would hope that it wouldn't be silent.

I have tried every type of capsule available and while I have liked some more than others, I have not been disappointed by any of them.

Bodum Bean French Press Coffeemaker with Locking Lever Lid, 8-Cup (34-Ounce), Black Big SALE

Bodum Bean French Press Coffeemaker with Locking Lever Lid, 8-Cup (34-Ounce), Black
This new 8-cup coffee maker adds an entirely new chapter to the French press success story. The temperature safe borosilicate glass carafe of the Bean French press coffee maker is encased in colorful plastic which protects the glass beautifully. The Bean features the precision pour, making it spill-resistant. The silicone gasket connecting the lid and the glass has an insulating effect and helps maintain the heat and aroma of the coffee longer. The simple push of a lever lets the coffee flow into the cup – all easily manageable with one hand. The Bean coffee maker comes in eight beautiful colors, is easy to clean and dishwasher safe.

Makes Excellent Coffee, but...
This is my first french press. My sister and brother in law only use these. So we went to visit them on vacation and coffee has never been the same. I tossed the drip crap we had and bought one of these from my local Sur La Table for $30. It makes the best tasting coffee ever! I do not use coarse ground as it states. That was a little weak for us. I use fine grounds, making an almost espresso strong coffee. I am now making home made lattes for great money savings!

Now the one con-the lid. Yes, it is cool to have a no spill feature, but you can't clean inside the lid! I can forsee some nasty growth in there sometime in the future. We use ours everyday. I thought about putting vinegar and hot water in and pouring that out to help, but then I have to be REALLY sure to get all that outta there before brewing again. Not worth the hassle for me.

I plan on returning this model tomorrow for one that just uses the beaker to pour and not some plastic part...

Bodum Bean French Press Coffee Maker
This coffee maker is an improvement over the previous Bodum French Press that I have. This one keeps the coffee warmer for a longer period of time. It has a special rubber rim in the lid that closes the pot more tightly.
Nice press, but annoying cleanup
As a French press, this item is fine. The molded full length handle, the locking top, and the lever-operated spout make it easier, safer, and more comfortable to pour than most, and the main thing is it makes good coffee. The color options are a bonus if you like the fun factor; your press can bring an extra little smile even before you get that first aroma of coffee. However, the screen in the plunger mechanism consists of 3 pieces - a fine mesh screen, a solid steel disc, and a spring to hold the screen against the disc. It functions OK, some fine grounds get through it like in most presses (admittedly this is one drawback of a mechanical filter versus a paper filter in a drip brewer). My only real gripe is that it is common for grounds to become lodged between the screen and the disc, which makes it necessary to physically dig them out during cleanings. That creates a risk of bending the filter screen. I have two other presses where the screen is permanently sealed in the...

If you can get this for a deal, grab it!
I couldn't decide between the various CBTL units, but was sure I wanted a combo espresso and coffee maker. While I wouldn't consider myself a total coffee snob, I do love the good stuff, Blue Bottle, Peets Major Dickason etc. I have been very pleased with this unit after about two weeks of use. I have an excellent true espresso maker, but the difference has been negligible enough that for the time saved and the good quality pull achieved, this is a steal. I was able to find a combo with a hand held milk frother for <$100 shipped. I have created kind of a quick style latte that I drink almost every day; pour about 1/3 inch milk into a microwaveable 9 oz bodum glass cup, microwave for about 20 seconds, use the hand held frother and then do a double espresso shot right into the cup. The espresso goes through the frothed milk into the bottom and it's a great drink for about 1 minute total effort.

My wife uses exclusively for coffee and I have tried one 8 oz and one 10 oz...

Americano VS Kaldi S04 VS Briosa
I feel I'm almost an expert on CBTL machines. I've owned the CBTL Kaldi S04 for two (2) trouble-free years, but I was looking for a back-up unit as I love my Kaldi so much - and you never know when the manufacturer will quit making them for one reason or another.

Here are my picks in order of favorite first:

1. The Kaldi - MY FAVORITE! - the Kaldi appears to have the best build-quality; but now they appear to be made by Sensio (not to be confused with Senseo who makes the pod brewers) - I have one of the first-built Kaldi's and I don't think Sensio made mine; I've noticed less quality on the machines now made by Sensio.

NOTE: My Kaldi has a program built into it which calls for a de-scaling cycle to be run every now and then using an actual descaling product (not vinegar) ---- neither the Americano or the Briosa have this program. The manual for these two machines simply states to run 12 ounces of water through now and then - I'm sorry, but that does...
Keurig Killer
This is a great machine. I came from a high capacity Keurig to this. At first I was skeptical, but I couldn't make a better choice. With many pouring settings, you get anything from espresso, lungos, to an ice tea pour. It's narrow design fits way better on the counter than other bulky machines. In a house of two, this answers out coffee needs.

Pros: smaller design, multi-pour option, internal used capsule bin, great tasting coffee
Cons: just as loud as Keurig, very hard to find capsules in brick and mortar retail stores
